Product Overview

Battles of the Bulge: Celles
December 23-27, 1944

Celles is a fast moving simulation of the fighting at the high watermark of the German Ardennes offensive, AKA "The Battle of the Bulge". The Germans are advancing towards the Meuse River and are running out of fuel and time to force a desperate crossing to achieve Hitler's goal of ultimate "Victory". The Allied forces are both trying to block the German advance and begin a counter-offensive to destroy the German Panzer Divisions.

Alternating random activation by formation provides players with uncertainty and excitement. Each turn, players receive a varying number of activations (not all formations may move and some may move more than once!) to represent fuel shortages, aggressive generalship, command uncertainty, and piecemeal reinforcements that provides players with a rich historical feel. After units move, strengths are reduced to simulate fatigue and lack of defensive preparation. This is a game for players who love to counter-attack!

Smart looking game. Map and counters look good. Rules easy to read and understand. I had a blast playing it. Looking forward to more games like this.

    Overall, a Really Nice Game

Nice looking map and counters, but missing a few things. Player aids for two would be REALLY nice, a cover for the rule book, and the map is missing a nice terrain key and a label for one of the tracks and dice. Where are the dice?!! Even though the rules read easy enough, I found the rules difficult to put into play for the first time. If it is an intro game it should have a walk through and this does not have that. Once you figure out who's turn it is and when to use action chits, this is a really fun game with a lot of suspense. I think that having to spend movement points to move and attack is a really neat idea and makes the game story move along nicely. Over all we enjoy this title a lot and I expect to play many more times.

    Excellent intro war game

This is a great introduction to hex and counter war games. Simple, streamlined gameplay makes this departure from normal board games not too intimidating. Good components help too. I'll definitely be buying more 'Battles of the Bulge'
